KIDDERMINSTER Arts Festival returns for a fortnight on August 16 with a variety of music, dance, drama and art for all ages.
The festival kicks off at the Town Hall Corn Exchange with The Selfish Giant, an adaptation of an Oscar Wilde play, performed by the Sealegs Theatre Company. Set in a steel sculpted garden, the story of the lonely giant is told using crafted puppets, narration and a musical soundtrack.
Ramshackilicious Theatre Company will use the street outside the town hall as their stage for a performance of their play, The Road to Nowhere, on August 29.
Suitable for all ages, the play offers a combination of contemporary clowning, physical theatre and audience interaction.
The festival will also feature a range of exhibitions, including a unique display by local award-winning tattoo artist Mandie Barber.
Mandie will exhibit her paintings and tattoo work and host a demonstration in Kidderminster Library on August 16, 22 and 27.
Drumlove drumming workshop returns by popular demand on August 18, giving people the opportunity to beat the skins and learn some rhythms.
Four days of dance workshops will be held at Baxter United Reform Church, from August 19 to 22.
The high energy lessons for youngsters will culminate in a series of performances in Kidderminster town centre.
Over-18s can dig out their platforms and get down to The Swan pub, in Vicar Street, for a night of 70s and 80s live DJs on August 28.
Naughty nun, Musical Ruth, will entertain children and adults alike with her outrageous blend of Julie Andrews, Liberace and Dame Edna Everage at Kidderminster Library gallery on August 30.
Throughout the festival, approved buskers from across the country will perform on Kidderminster’s streets. The best busker, as voted for by the public, will win a prize.
