MEMBERS of the English Symphony Orchestra will join in the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of a Kidderminster church.

The wind quartet’s programme at St Ambrose Church includes works by composers including Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart and Purcell.

Quartet members are Catherine Handley, Paul Arden-Taylor, Verity Butler and Christine Predota.

They will also play amusing pieces such as Vernon Elliot’s Nogging the Dog and Bach Goes To Sea.

Also at the event, 18th century organ music will be played by Dr David Ponsford to showcase the 1992 Kenneth Tickell mechanical-action organ.

David is the conductor of the Chamber Orchestra and Choral Society at Cardiff University.

He also teaches organ and harpsichord at Bristol University, The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and Wells Cathedral School.

David is currently writing a book on French classical organ music for Cambridge University Press.

The concert will take place next Wednesday at 7.30pm and the musicians themselves will be introducing the music throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event, which include an interval drink, can be booked in advance on 01684 576988.

They will also be available at the venue on the night.
