AN AMATEUR operatic society is looking for a man to take part in a production of a classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

The Carpet Trades Operatic Society is auditioning for the part of Emile de Becque in South Pacific. The character is a middle-aged French plantation owner, who falls in love with nurse Nellie Forbrush, to be played by real-life nurse Sarah Richards.

Director Darren Richards said he is looking for a 40 to 50-year-old baritone, with a convincing French accent.

The production will be staged at Stourport Civic Centre in October. Auditions will be held at New Meeting Hall in Church Street, Kidderminster. Anyone interested should call Darren Richards on 07775 890640.
