1:50pm Thursday 14th August 2008
A RANGE of free music and art events will take place next week at a church near Stourport.
The events begin next Wednesday at the Church of All Saints, in Wilden, at noon with a performance by young organist Jason Fisher.
On Wednesday evening, Nic Harvey and Pam Craven will hold a talk about the church’s stained glass windows, which were designed by 19th century artist, Edward Burne-Jones.
The Wilden Concert Choir and friends will perform an impromptu concert of music, sketches and sing-alongs next Thursday, at 7.30pm.
The following morning, at 10.30am, organist Julian Manchee will attempt to play all 533 hymns in the church’s hymnbook in a row, as part of a record attempt.
An informal evening of music will be held next Saturday from 7.30pm, featuring guitar, banjo, clarinet and keyboard, with an opportunity for everyone to sing along.
The following Monday and Tuesday, visitors can learn about Wilden’s history between 10am and 4pm. Historic photos and almanacs can be viewed and people are invited to share photos and information.
On the final day, Wednesday, August 27, a representative from the Joint Services Medal Office will be available to answer any questions about medals. For a full programme of events, visit www.wildentowitley.org.uk or call 01299 878224 for more information.
