A NINE-year-old boy from Kidderminster and his mum were at the front of the crowd to see Queen Camilla during her Worcester Cathedral visit today (Thursday, March 28).
St John's C of E Primary School pupil Freddie Worthington and his mum Verity braved the rain to witness the moment the Queen arrived this morning.
Hundreds of people arrived outside Worcester Cathedral to catch a glimpse of Queen Camilla who was visiting the city as part of the Royal Maundy Thursday service.
Miss Worthington, a history teacher, thought it would be a good day out for her son during the Easter break.
41-year-old said: "He was totally mesmerised.
"We were right at the front. I'm not a huge royalist. I just thought it would be a good day for the school holidays for my son.
"We got there about 9 o'clock. We waited a couple of hours but we did have a good position.
"We saw her arrive - we didn't get to talk to her.
"Freddie was quite interested in all the snipers on the roofs. It was surreal.
"Being there to see the build-up was quite interesting.
"The crowd was lovely - it was a great atmosphere.
"It was very British how you had the big anti-monarchy protest, and a group of the crowd started singing the national anthem. It just seemed so British".
