"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman.

"Unfortunately, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”

Residents expressed their shock and sadness after hearing about the incident.

One resident Mick Davies said: “I only live down the road, but we didn’t hear or see anything.

“It’s a big shock. The family are going to be absolutely devastated. We know what it’s like to lose a young person so our thoughts go out to the woman’s family and friends.”

Another resident, Dawn Cooke, said: “I didn’t hear anything but it’s a terrible thing that’s happened.

“It’s quite frightening that it was so close to my home. I’ve lived here since 1998 and nothing like this has ever happened before.

“I’m just so sorry to the family for their loss.”
