VIDEO shows a shocking carjacking in Dudley - with an attempted robber jumping into a Mercedes before crashing.

A blue Range Rover pulls up alongside a white Mercedes on Russells Hall Road - one robber jumps out and then gets behind the wheel and drives off.

The driver of the Mercedes, who appears to be making a delivery, manages to jump in with the door still hanging open as the car drives off.

The stolen Mercedes then crashes into Demi-Leigh Freeman's car, which was coming in the opposite direction.

The carjacker jumps out of the Mercedes and back into the Range Rover, which was on cloned plates, and it speeds off.

The incident happened on Saturday (May 4) at 6.45pm with police making house-to-house enquiries and appealing for information.

Demi-Leigh, aged 27, has shared footage in an attempt to trace the carjackers.

She said: "I ended up getting crashed into and my car has been deemed a write-off.

"Any witnesses please let me know.

"A special thank you to the lovely women who came out to me and offered me food and drink where I had some water.

"You were lovely and it meant a lot to me.

"Please be mindful when leaving your cars unoccupied if running and ensure to lock them."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We're investigating after an attempt was made to rob a driver of their car in Russells Hall Road, Dudley.

"We understand that as the offender tried to drive the car away, it collided with a second vehicle.

"They then left in a blue Range Rover, on cloned plates, which was being driven by a second man.

"House-to-house enquiries are being carried out with CCTV footage and dashcam footage also being retrieved and reviewed as investigations continue."
