KEMP's Charity Abseil Challenge

KEMP Hospice is seeking daredevils to take part in a sponsored Charity Abseil Challenge to raise funds for the Charity.

The Hospice is looking for people who would be willing to abseil down the 150ft Abberley Clock Tower on Saturday 20th September.

Participants may wish to take part in this special event, in beautiful surroundings to conquer a fear, remember a loved one, celebrate a life or just as a challenge. Whatever the reason those taking part are sure to feel a rush of adrenaline as they get ready to start the descent!

Beth Hillyard, Hospice Fundraiser says “Not only will you be challenging yourself, but you will be supporting KEMP, your local Hospice in the Wyre Forest providing care for those with life-threatening illnesses. The beautiful surroundings and location steeped in history also make this a one-off event”.

One group of dedicated supporters who are really looking forward to the challenge are Richard Smith (17), Louis English (17), Jennie Rastall (16) and Sam Hiles (17). They used to attend Abberley Hall Prep School and were looking for the opportunity to abseil down the clock tower one more time and raise funds the KEMP Hospice.

The Clock Tower was completed in 1884 and in Victorian times one of the rooms within the tower was used as a sewing room. It was also continuously inhabited during the Second World War as a Home Guard Observation post reporting enemy aircraft heading for Birmingham.

On a clear day you can see five counties from the top of the tower, it promises to be a fantastic opportunity. To register or for further details, please contact the Fundraising office on 01562 861217.
