HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY - Thanks to all the owners who worked with a willing band of volunteers to open their gardens to the public for the National Gardens Scheme. The season started with ‘tulip time’ at Little Larford followed by visits to Astley Towne House featuring a new grotto. There was also opportunity to visit a range of seven different Astley country gardens. More than £12,000 was raised during the summer.

ALL SAINTS' AND WRIBBENHALL TOGETHER – On August 4, the guests were Roger from Cross Roads, a charity specialising in supporting those who spend so much time caring for a loved one, and Sue, the parenting and partnership adviser, who offered help and advice for all parents worried about their children's schooling or issues about their treatment within school.

ALL SAINTS’ AND WRIBBENHALL TOGETHER – On July 28, Maureen and her library team ran activities, games, story times for the children who came along. The afternoon session saw Marcus Hart answering questions.

WI - The speaker at the July meeting was Susan Reed, a physiotherapist, who spoke on exercise. She chose Pilates, walking, gardening and swimming to concentrate on, but advised members to choose what form of exercise suited them to help flexibility, general fitness and bone strengthening.

WI – Singers at the cathedral service to celebrate 90 years of Worcestershire Federation, singers in the choir for Christmas and the Shrinkin’ Violets, who will be entertaining Astley WI in December, were given the schedule of rehearsals starting in August. Astley will be well represented at the cathedral service.
