WI - The speaker at the July meeting was Susan Reed, a physiotherapist, who spoke on exercise. She chose Pilates, walking, gardening and swimming to concentrate on, but advised members to choose what form of exercise suited them to help flexibility, general fitness and bone strengthening.

The president announced that £400 had been raised at the institute’s valuation day on July 5 in aid of the Village Hall. Mr Stephen Bruce had valued members’ treasures.

There will be a punch and pie party on August 4 to raise money for the Denman bursary.

Members said goodbye to Eileen Worrall, a valued and long serving member, who is moving to Kendal.

The next meeting will be on Monday, September 7 at 7.30pm in the village Hall, when the speaker will be Jean Harper on delicious desserts.
