KNITTED figures of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus have been created by youngsters at Blakedown Primary School for a nativity scene. They were knitted by 10 pupils from years four, five and six, who are part of the school’s lunchtime knitting club. It took two months for the youngsters to knit the figures and they have been positioned in a cardboard box designed to look like a stable. Also included in the nativity scene are sheep, shepherds and the three kings. Pauline Tromans, a teaching assistant who runs the knitting club, said: “The pupils have worked really hard. They have been absolutely fantastic. Their enthusiasm has been brilliant. “They gave up their lunchtime and other activities to knit. I’m very proud of all of them.” l Nativity scene: Pictured are Blakedown Primary School pupils with their knitted figures, clockwise from front left, Zoe Jones, 9, Megan Crownshaw, 11, Amy Morley and Alexandra Blackwell, both 10.
