A LATE winner ensured that Kidderminster Harriers’ fans team lost 2-1 to Mansfield’s supporters in Nottingham on Saturday.
An understrength side because of cricket, wedding and work commitments went down fighting at Ashfield School.
The hosts started strongly but the experienced central pairing of Mark Connolly and Dave Williams held strong.
They suffered a set-back in the tenth minute when last season’s top scorer, Mark Greaves, twisted his ankled.
Harriers were trailing to a Mansfield goal after a mistake by Mark Young handed the hosts a one-year lead by half-time.
The visitors levelled the scores when Ben Grazier hit the back of the net from close range, but Mansfield had the last laugh when they scored late on to ensure the fans suffered an opening day loss.
