ROWING: Bewdley’s in-form novice men were in impressive form at the Ironbridge Regatta over the weekend and won their fourth event of the season.

The quartet of Ben Prince, Toby Weisand, Luke McCoy and Tim Walton, coxed by Jo Atkinson, got the better of Liverpool Victoria and Worcester by three lengths in the semi-finals, before defeating a crew from Peterborough in the final.

The experienced veterans crew of Jon Fazakerley, Ed Mol, Paul Warnett and Mick Edmonds, who were coxed by Lorna Pritchard, were not to be outdone by the novices and won both their races, beating Ross in the over-55s section and Peterbrough in the over-50s category.

Jenny Merchant and Laura Ray overcame competition from City of Oxford and Llandaff on both Saturday and Sunday to win the WS3 coxless pairs event.
