REVIEW: Stourport Choral and Operatic Society, Civic Centre, December 20

12:38pm Tuesday 23rd December 2008

THE third in my trilogy of festive concerts was not a disappointment, as the Stourport singers were in fine voice and gave us a fine selection of songs and carols to take us into Christmas week.

WORCESTER Live has built on the success of last year’s Aladdin with another fast-moving, fun production.

REVIEW: Kidderminster Male Choir, Town Hall, December 13

I HAVE been covering KMC’s festive concert for so many years, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without it.

REVIEW: The lion, the witch and the wardrobe

2:48pm Thursday 11th December 2008

The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe 26 November - 17 January Rating: 3/5 The Birmingham Rep’s stage has been transformed into the otherworldly land of Narnia this Christmas as the CS Lewis’ tale of ‘The Cildren of Adam’ becomes a seasonal classic. The West Yorkshire Playhouse have received strong praise for their interpretation of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe over the last few years and after migrating south to the Birmingham it is clear that the high budget production travels well.

REVIEW: Peter Pan, Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton

4:09pm Wednesday 10th December 2008

THE Grand scored a massive hit with last year’s Dick Whittington when it got The Krankies on board and the 2008 show is another all-singing, all-dancing, gag-tastic winner.

IT really feels that the countdown to christmas has begun after joining in singing White Christmas, and various other yuletide songs at this most enjoyable concert.

YES … if only this delightful concoction could be bottled and periodically uncorked every time you felt in need of a pick-me-up. What a tonic that would be.

REVIEW: Patience, Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Swan Theatre, Worcester

10:34am Tuesday 4th November 2008

I DON'T know why this G&S gem isn’t performed more often - it is years since I saw a production of it and it is great fun.

REVIEW: Kidderminster Male Choir, Kidderminster Town Hall

11:42am Monday 20th October 2008

MUCH of the programme comprised items from KMC’s latest charity CD, so we really enjoyed a variety of numbers.

REVIEW: Carpet Trades Operatic Society: South Pacific, Stourport Civic Centre

10:20am Friday 17th October 2008

I SPENT ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ at the Civic, enjoying every minute of the rousing Bloody Mary routine at the start to the wonderful ending when the reunited Nellie and Emile clasp hands (that bit always gets to me).
